Pros

Some good perks Helps your career advance Chance to work on some great brands, with huge events Opportunities to meet journalists face to fact to establish relationships which benefit your career beyond your time at the agency People like Clare and Lynnette are a breath of fresh air There can be a great buzz when things are going well, you don’t want to be around for a bad day though!

Cons

There is no doubt working at Little Red is good for your career, but it was at the expense of my mental health. My time there was very damaging and I am in therapy to resolve this now. No work perks make up for that. Turnover is high even for a PR agency- there is a reason they are constantly hiring. Firings and warnings are common. Has a cult-like, cut-throat environment, where there always has to be someone blamed. It can be quite hostile with the founder known to lose her tempter regularly on team calls. Most of these reviews cite low pay and long hours as an issue, and while this is explained away as an industry wide problem, Little Red does have the power to change that and chooses not to. The founder dismissing it each time is indicative of her attitude towards other instances of raising issues. Little Red get away with being a toxic place to work due to the huge brands they work with, and they keep this cycle going via the employment of underpaid junior staff needing a start in their career

Thanks for taking the time to leave this review. It is incredibly sad to read you are in therapy and believe this was the fault of the agency. Despite having an anonymous employee engagement survey every quarter, monthly line manager and separate buddy catch ups we had no idea someone was so unhappy working at our company. You raised that Clare and Lynnette were a breath of fresh air but didn't raise these issues with them or in your exit interview? It is really good to read some of your positive feedback but a shame even with these you still felt one star was fair. On the cons side I'd like to address your points: Turnover is not high and still sits below the industry percentage for agencies. Most people stay at agencies for two to three years so it is fantastic that over 50% of our staff have been here for longer than that. Firings and warnings are absolutely not common. We have only ever asked one person to leave the agency in our entire 12 year history. Warnings only happen after staff make repetitive mistakes and is only as a last resort when all other possibilities have been exhausted. Our pay bands are all exactly inline with the pay bands advised by the PRCA and Reuben Sinclar's annual PR salary survey pay bands for LONDON agencies so actually higher than the average for non-London based agencies. On working hours all staff working over 40 hours a week are automatically flagged via our Harvest system so even if they don't tell a line manager or buddy we catch it. To counteract the long hours that sometimes occur in PR due to having to work events etc. we offer unlimited holiday which means people can take the day off after an event etc. - no questions asked. Staff very, very rarely would ever work longer than a 40 hour week. With regards your comment on our pay being poor. An inexperienced JAE would start at Little Red Rooster on £21,000 which is widely publicised and not hidden at all. This is not underpaid. The next level up - AE pays between £20 and up to £28k if you work on our tech and audio team. All our pay bands are completely available to staff. I am the owner and I am deeply hurt by your accusation that I don't care. I care deeply about the environment and the company I have created and go out of my way to ensure everyone feels welcome and supported. I am very sorry if in this case you felt I let you down and I can only urge you to talk to your next employer if you feel this bad in that role. It is impossible for me to fix these issues if I don't know during your employment with us. I wish you all the best in your next role and hope it suits you better than the role you undertook at Little Red Rooster. Vic

Pros

I had had the pleasure of working at LRR for a number of years having previously worked with the founder Victoria in the Digital Division at Cohn & Wolfe and have been impressed with all that she has achieved then and throughout her career. I’ve always admired Victoria's go-getter attitude and exceptional work ethic. She has always led with a strong sense of accountability and an unwavering focus on results, setting a high standard for herself and everyone around her. What truly sets Victoria apart in her CEO role at Little Red Rooster is how deeply she values her team. From organising international retreats to investing in meaningful initiatives like creating a food pantry during the pandemic, she consistently shows that people come first. She fosters an environment where individuals are empowered to perform at their best. Victoria and the agency bring a refreshing, no-nonsense approach to her client consultancy offering a honest viewpoint that can drive real impact rather than a surface-level solution to appease someone. We have collaborated on several successful UK/US projects over the years and share similar values around 'working hard but having fun' as well an 'integrity' first mind-set. I’m really excited to be working at the agency as we expand into North America and look forward to what we’ll all accomplish next.

Cons

Vic is a very hard worker and I wish at times she would slow down. Sometimes she is hard to keep up with!

Thanks for the review. So many positives so thank you. It’s great to hear. We are so happy you like working here. I can’t argue with that competitive environment but I can try and help with long hours. Please do try and leave on time and come and talk to me (Vic) or your line manager if you fee your hours are spiralling. We can help reprioritse, delegate etc. PR is a job that can often feel like it's never 'finished' there will always be another person you could reply to or pitch you could write. It is about prioritising what has to happen now and what can be moved. If you need help with this please talk to me (Vic), your line manager or your buddy. You can use the Engagement Multiplier to talk to me anonymously if that helps. I appreciate PR can be long hours especially when we have events with press and clients but do make sure you take advantage of our unlimited holiday policy to ensure you have enough time away from work to recharge.
