Pros
I first started interning at Pulse during the summer of 2014- it was my very first internship position and an incredible experience. From the first week, they had me doing hands-on work. I covered restaurants, shows at the Paramount and even after my internship ended, they invited me to be a photographer at the photo booth at their annual Battle of the Burger event- a really fun experience!
During my time, I developed a very good working relationship with the digital editor and because of that she offered me a position to continue with them as a freelancer when I went back to school upstate. It was an amazing experience and the only reason I left was because I had accepted a recent offer and it would have been a conflict of interest. But, the employees and work environment here are great. Definitely a little laid back but it was fun and there was always something new to work on.
Cons
Interns are unpaid. I wanted to return as an intern the following summer but needed a paid internship.
