Pros
- Great benefits and 401(k) contributions, as well as a nice annual bonus. - Great opportunity to make a lot of money. Particularly if you accept a role in a department with plenty of overtime opportunities, such as logistics. With overtime, there are many individuals who have been able to earn close to and over double their salary across logistics and manufacturing. You can truly change your life here if you're willing and able to put in the hours. - Lonza looks great on a resume, especially if you can stick with them for at least years. - One of the highest night shift differentials in the entire industry and market in general (20% for overnights / 3rd shift). Out of dozens of companies, I have only come across one other company with a higher night shift differential than Lonza. That 20% goes a long way. - Significant amounts of time off if you are on the 12-hour shifts. You will more or less work around half the year. There are not many companies that will be able to compare to Lonza in this regard. They are quite generous with time off.
Cons
- If you are a minority and going into logistics, you should prepare to experience some level of alienation. Document everything and be patient until you can transfer to manufacturing or another business area. - Incompetence and unprofessionalism are often rewarded. - Some employees are more special than others and will be allowed to get away with anything from sexual harassment to literally doing whatever they want. In these cases, the employees are either related to or close friends with one or several of the logistics managers. Bias exists in many if not most companies and Lonza is no different. - The company feels quite fragmented rather than united. While there are always talks of Lonza operating as one, it did not feel that way at all. Especially in departments such as logistics, where incompetence and major issues are overlooked because the higher ups are more concerned with manufacturing.
