Pros

A few of my colleagues who I really enjoyed working with.

Cons

While the CEO mean well, he's the wrong person to be leading this company. Two people essentially run their GTM motion and it's been years and Loop still finds itself where it was a few years ago. Thankfully he quickly pivoted from Lending Loop which was an abysmal failure. I blame their failure on the fact that they have inexperienced people running their GTM and Marketing teams and because they can't get quality people on their GTM teams they're hiring very junior people who they can pass a script to and get to work countless hours. I vividly remember my second interview where I had to go into their office. Everyone looked absolutely miserable. While I don't mind working in-person, it's clear that the CEO does this because he doesn't trust his employees. They actually have you fill out this form before they hire you with the most baseless question and one is if you have any obligations - personal and professional - that will prevent you from giving them your all. It's so bad that two of their main competitors don't even consider them competition. Oh, and they have no issues firing you yet still using your ideas. Thankfully, they're not very bright and this clearly illustrates what happens when you try to implement an idea without understanding the why behind it.

Pros

Being a software developer intern at Loop embodies what working at a fast-paced start up is like, learning quickly, having ownership, and actually contributing. From day one you are treated as a junior developer with responsibilities and high impact tasks, so don’t expect to be grabbing coffees and just scrolling through your calendar trying to look busy! At Loop you are working with a collaborative team that’s passionate about the product and happy to answer/help with any questions you have, not just about engineering but anything you’re curious about. I think at Loop you can learn 10x more than any corporate co-op role, being involved in and gaining insights on how every facet of how a company operates from ideation to shipping.

Cons

Some people can see the startup culture as a bit tiring but honestly that environment allowed me to learn so much
