Pros

Passionate team who really embody the values of healthy active living and committed to giving high level customer experience. People really do believe what they preach. Like all management roles- the experience varies a lot with the team you work with and who you work under. Working with passionate individuals made all the difference.

Cons

Training materials not consistently utilized and or not existing so there was a lack of consistency across the board. Me personally, I was given very little in the way of formal training and I would have floundered if not for my own experience in the role in previous businesses. Has the highest HR turnover I have ever seen in a business- almost comically. Same token as I noted in pros, it’s all about people. There are expectations that felt unrealistic and the way that pressure can trickle down can be… unpleasant. This business as many others and similar roles will extend far beyond 9-5 M-F and there are expectations to be on-call on the weekends and unfortunately you will be expected at times needing to cover shifts.

Pros

There were no pros to working for this company.

Cons

Corporate had such unrealistic expectations and would micromanage by calling throughout the day asking all employees what the current sales numbers were at and what each employee would do to turn it around. There was barely any foot traffic and the regional manager would push for everyone to go through out the mall and food court to get people to come into the store, as well as stand in front of the store to lure people to come in. It was so cringey and seemed to turn customers away even more. It seemed and felt desperate. Everything was focused on numbers and not any concern for customers or employees at all. It seemed to have gone against everything Lorna Jane stood for and all the motivational “vibes” and sayings in stores and on clothing. It was cliquey and not an inclusive environment. The store manager was great and tried her best, but none of the employees would listen and basically wanted to sit on their phones instead of work and do things like basic tasks such as go-backs, make sure the store and merchandise was tidy and organized. Not unreasonable asks at all. There was even a pregnant employee who got in trouble by the regional manager for elevating her feet while on a break in the back. Crazy!
