Pros

Co-workers for the most part. Great HR. No Smoking By Employees on Lowes Property

Cons

15 min breaks have to be taken on property. So if you're hungry and want to grab something from somewhere else, you either have to bring it in with you or wait until your lunch. For one weekend off, full time employees must work 6-7 days in a row; so after weekend off employee will work 6-7 day workweek. NO WORK LIFE BALANCE at all. Must have open availability for the entire week. Will be expected to work opening shift after working closing shift the night before. This means you can work close anywhere from 9:30pm to 11:00pm and have to turn around and be back in at 5am. After employee has worked 6 or 7 day work week, the next weeks off days will be split up, not together, so it feels like working 14 to 16 days straight. Customers are extremely rude. To make matters worse, most customers are not just rude to the employees, but to the other customers as well. Outdated systems make performing certain daily tasks almost impossible. Training not as good nor as long as it should be; these aren't registers employees are running but full out computer systems. 6 months of hands on is what it takes to understand half of it, but still will not train for all of it. No one has time to properly train new employees. Best an employee can do is learn their job quickly or find a different job quickly. Employees often do not get off when they're supposed to, and we're talking 1/2 hr to hrs here. Depending on department, schedule will be changed without management notifying the employee, so you're left constantly checking your schedule.

Pros

The job offers great benefits, and you have the opportunity to learn a lot about different home improvement skills as well as get a better understanding of general contracting as a whole, if you apply yourself. Most fellow associates are kind and helpful and fantastic to work with, really fostering the idea that corporate likes to push of being a 'family'.

Cons

You will be worked hard with a skeleton crew and given every excuse under the sun by management as to why even the simplest improvements can't be done, Customers are generally nice, but there are a fair amount of them that will abuse or insult you for not knowing everything about everything in the store. Favoritism definitely thrives there, with people possessing better skills being passed over for opportunities by people who are more chummy with the right people.
