Pros
Extremely relaxed environment. Leave early on Friday. You can lie to everyone and do little to no nothing for a long time and you will still have a job after that. If you can manage to get a good contract or a position during the good time you can have a laugh at the company's expense while doing little to nothing.
Cons
Not a technology firm. Very limited power systems knowledge within the company. Few to no technical experts. A real and apparent lack of technically qualified people at the top of this company. Great talkers but with near zero technical skill or serious engineering experience. Little to no strategy. Changing objectives every other month. Delusional managers think the company is on par with Siemens, ABB, etc.... and can develop products and services, implement processes that they do. Everyone in corporate IT is a windoze person. No Linux experience what so ever. PC repair shop kind of knowledge.... No admin rights on PCs. Enforced very bright pink screen background. IT migration has left the software team with no software build servers for many months. Non existent HR. No employee reviews, at all, ever. Politics and infighting over and above anything that is normal. Openly and without shame. Old boys network kind of company. If you don't talk or look right you will never get promoted to any serious role. I wouldn't recommend anyone who is foreign to join this company. System related: No active new projects for systems team for a LONG time now. Lots of talk about bidding on this or that project WHEN a tender finally opens. Previous systems team manager was fired and no explanation was given, rather told us he quit. Promoted a young and inexperienced engineer in his place. Probably to save money. He has now quit as well. Very recent firing has cut the Banbury engineering team by almost half. But no managers! More systems and software engineers have now quit. Firing production operatives, technicians, etc in their factories. A large part of their engineering division is being moved Offshore. A sizeable profit (check online) was made for 2016. You be the judge. Marketing was running an "Energy Services week" campaign on social media while during that same week they fired people. What timing! Make sure you speak to past employees before you join this company to get a first hand account. You should be able to connect with them using social media. If you have any ambition of designing good products and services do not join this company.
