Pros

Free coffee. Location. Taking Mr Pickles for a walk to get out.

Cons

Terrible management - staff are not drones who can smash out creative work to an unrealistically demanding quota. CEO is a blank faced office robot with a chequered past to boot. Dull office. Very little real knowledge of digital marketing. Over-reliance on regurgitated HubSpot knowledge.

Pros

The close-knit team and friendly environment meant that we could all communicate clearly and fast, making collaboration as easy as possible. Despite different backgrounds, everyone was always open to questions and eager to share their experience and I very much enjoyed gaining more insight into the different fields Luminate was active in. The work is challenging and the clients are varied, which keeps things interesting on a day to day basis. The WeWork office space is a great place to work in, very relaxing common areas, free brews, great for networking and all sorts of activities and events to participate in. The office is perfect for the small team, has a great view and is fully suited with 27’ iMacs. During my time, I got to exercise my technical skills, improve my soft skills as well as gain a number of certifications, which will surely benefit me in the future. I learned a lot about the marketing industry and gained valuable experience with a multitude of online tools.

Cons

In the early days with, being a start-up, communication between Managers and Staff could have been improved. As time passed and with the company seeing positive growth, the environment has become more balanced, with improved processes allowing managers to trust everyone’s ability and expertise.

Pros

Some nice and welcoming members of staff. A dog, though no-one ever paid it any attention. Thankfully I wasn't there long, and it's all like a weird unhappy memory to me now.

Cons

The day before I started, I happened to Google the name of my new boss and I'd recommend anyone who thinks about working here should do the same. It was worrying. My job role had changed almost entirely in between my first and second stage interviews, but against my gut feeling, I accepted the job. Big mistake, as I was being expected to do things that were totally not what I'd expected to do. The first morning was a series of dispiriting blows as all of the weird and totalitarian working practices were explained to me. This wasn't like working at any progressive business or (especially) an agency, there was no trust or respect and I felt like I had given up my freedoms whenever I walked through the door. The turnover of staff was ridiculous, but no lessons seemed to have been learned from these, it was always that the people must have suddenly become bad after they had been hired.
