As a result, those who work here are viewed as true thought leaders and experts in their respective fields by sponsors. The organization itself is tailored to experienced professionals, meaning you are expected to be a contributor on Day 1 and whether you’ve been here 2 years or 20 years… your opinion is solicited and heard by leaders. There is no time or tolerance for hand holding here, meaning you are largely working alongside independent-operating, self-motivated individuals who are focused on quality outputs. Finally, the organization truly emphasizes work-life balance, offers very good benefits, and has an exceptional retirement program.
Cons
Many companies experience this, but MITRE is among those that tend to be all over the map with decision making and organizational speed. Some internal programs and new processes are ridiculously slow to implementation, whereas others are developed and pushed through so quickly they come off as ill-conceived, half-cocked, and incomplete to staff. It largely boils down to which center you’re in and the personal style of its leadership. … And this goes hand-in-hand with a noticeable lack of collaboration these days between certain MITRE executives and centers. Similar initiatives are regularly executed in multiple centers/divisions when only one collaborative, corporate-level effort should suffice, and tendency is for these outputs to fall flat and result in widespread confusion that inevitably increases animosity towards leadership.
