Pros

- Location; - It's a small business, and if it succeeds, you may grow with it.

Cons

I've learned the difference between Bosses and Leaders years ago, and that's how I could identify the management mindset of MVSI quickly. It's hard to feel a place on your first day, but after a few weeks you kind of realise the vibe around you and then you put together all the pieces of information you collected, so if you're already working here pay attention to these details: - You're pushed to start your “shift” at the appointed time, but leaving at the agreed time is not viewed favourably. And leaving later is not even a compensation. (BTW, they joke about the time you arrive just to make you uncomfortable). - You'll constantly hear how they want to make millions with the company, but you won't hear about any value they want to bring to people. - The big boss knows everything! So save your energy to argue with someone else. - If you're (un)lucky you'll hear the management tell people WHAT to do, but hardly HOW to do. “They” often point fingers on your mistakes, never praise your good work. These are such subtle details, but later you can see that they don't give a damn to the product, or the people who uses it. There is no passion for the work.

Thank you, and appreciate the feedback, good or bad. It's always disappointing to see someone leave a negative review, even if it was because they were asked to leave. As the CEO, I do take personal responsibility for our culture. We like to think we have an awesome workplace culture within MVSI, and our credo is that our people are our most important asset, and we live by that every day, and generally the only time one needs to be a boss is when there is an issue or problem.

Pros

Probably the only one I could find is flexibility, up to a degree.

Cons

Out of all my engineering roles, this was by far the least enjoyable. The work environment is highly toxic, driven by unrealistic expectations and poor management practices. Tasks are regularly estimated at 8 hours but realistically take several weeks to complete. Despite this, there’s constant pressure to “move faster,” and engineers are frequently blamed or yelled at for delays that stem from impossible deadlines and unclear requirements. The codebase is in terrible shape, “spaghetti code” doesn’t begin to describe it. It’s a patchwork of quick fixes and workarounds, with zero documentation and massive files (often 5,000+ lines) containing functions that handle dozens of unrelated responsibilities. Maintaining or extending this code is a nightmare. Management is extremely micromanaging, constantly asking for updates and pressuring you about delivery times. Most tickets are vaguely written, often require multiple rounds of clarification, and the scope tends to change midway through development. It’s common for new requests to be added to the same ticket without adjusting timelines, and then you’re questioned about why it’s taking longer. Long hours are the norm, including weekends, with no compensation or recognition for the extra time. If you’re a Software Engineer who values good engineering practices, clear communication, or work-life balance, this is not the right place. The development experience is frustrating on nearly every level.

Doing my monthly reviews of Glassdoor, and appreciate this feedback. As per my previous response, as the CEO I would be the first to admit that we have some amount of spaghetti code, a side affect of rapid growth, and success with the product. In fact we raise this during the interview process, we need great people to help drive change, bring ideas, and we are open and honest. I am going to say that I do have to disagree about the long hours with no compensation, working out of hours is for emergencies only, an absolute core principle of the our ethos. And when it does happen, we have so many ways to compensate people, whatever the personal preference.

Pros

I want to stand up for the company against the negativity. I worked there and only left due to some visa and health issues, but I genuinely enjoyed my time. The best way to describe this company is that it has a Ferrari engine attached to a Civic car. The Ferrari Engine: This is Daniel, the CEO. He is an extraordinary, visionary, and aggressive leader. He carries the weight of the company and is the reason it is where it is today. If you want to learn from someone smart and ambitious, this is the place. The Departments: Most departments, like Business and Customer Support, are running smoothly and doing a great job supporting that vision.

Cons

The issue is that we are trying to contain that Ferrari engine inside a "Civic" framework. (Don't get me wrong—the Civic is still a very good car). The tools and the team are generally reliable and get the job done. But they aren't always built to handle the sheer torque and ambition coming from the CEO. This creates friction. The development team specifically felt this gap. Some developers weren't ready for that level of intensity (or honestly were not even qualified enough) and were let go, which led to some bitter reviews. But if you are ambitious and tough, you will love it here. Yes, code base in not ideal, but that was the cost you have to pay in order to grow fast.
