Pros
Many genuinely talented, hardworking people who care about their craft. The work itself is challenging and rewarding, high-end aerospace and defense components. The building and equipment is pretty well-maintained and modern. Most mentors and coworkers are willing to invest in you if you show initiative. Benefits aren't great, but the insurance is basically free. 401K match is on par, vacation is under-par.
Cons
Company has been in steady decline since being sold to a capital investment firm. Leadership consistently fails to reinvest in in-house talent, internal training programs and external education efforts are often started and then abandoned due to poor cash flow management leading to inability to foot the bill. The company has experienced roughly a 25% drop in revenue over the past two years, leading to layoffs and budget freezes. Pay is far below market, especially for the level of responsibility and skill required. Raises are rare & small even for high performers. Certain departments operate as cliques and can be hostile to outsiders, creating a toxic dynamic that drives good employees out. Many long-term, loyal employees are burning out and leaving due to low morale and lack of recognition. Upper management has neglected to promote existing talent, instead bringing in outside talent which is out of the norm.
