Pros

- Constant involvement in projects/all departments opinions are taken into consideration - Company is growing at a fast rate, meaning a great opportunity for personal growth - Autonomous working - you are responsible for your part of the project, meaning you can create something you are proud of - Start-up culture means you learn a lot more skills than you would in a corporate environment, meaning more transferrable skills - Opportunity to travel e.g. San Francisco, Cape Town & Amsterdam - Monthly massages - Feedback from employees has been taken on by the founders to create a better working environment for all - Leadership training course has allowed further personal growth than in other companies - Free Gym membership - No cold calling (great when you're in sales) - Very approachable founders - I have always been able to go and ask for help/understanding when I am in a difficult position, and the founders try and support me the best they can

Cons

The high growth rate can sometimes mean the wrong people are hired - those who are not passionate about what we do or can not hack the fast pace changes or high target often feel hard done by, and push this negative vibe on to the rest of the team. A small team/company means that everyone has to pull their weight, and when someone slacks it can affect a project massively, and have a knock on effect on motivation.

Pros

Maddox Events runs successful, well-liked and important conferences in spite of an often turbulent office culture. As an employee, I felt my role could often fluctuate between too much and too little responsibility, but my opinion was always valued and my boss always made sure I was growing. It's a place where I developed skills and perseverance extremely quickly. It's a company with growing pains, run by 3 people in their late-20s/early-30s who don't have decades of business experience between them, but who are ultimately trying to do something good.

Cons

The company's biggest weakness is/was bad hiring: a few key senior staff who were bought on were revealed to be ineffectual (some of whom have left scathing reviews on here - as normal, well-adjusted people in their 30s often do when asked to leave because of poor performance). Inexperience in hiring seems to be the only major flaw with the founders, otherwise, a few quality hires could turn things around.
