Pros

Like the title says it's a good place to get started in journalism and the company's name opens doors and gives you access to lots of interviewees.

Cons

From my experience, however, it's not worth it because I and none of my colleagues got to go in depth on any articles. You churn mediocre (and sometimes bad) content. Editors in chief were overworked and expected to do overtime which is not paid as for everyone else. The hierarchy has a very top-down approach, strategy can change from one day to another and it is not fulfilling. Many people have got burn outs and left. More than 10 journalists left between January and October 2023. The team of Delano Magazine was of 10 people and Paperjam about 20.

Pros

I can't find any real pros.

Cons

Welcome to a company where everything is under control… except for the organisation. Here, decisions rain down, contradict each other, and disappear just as quickly as they arrived. Top-down management reigns supreme, listening is an abstract concept, and interdepartmental communication is nothing short of a miracle. HR? Present, but mostly to push papers. Harassment, humiliation, micro-management? Everyone knows, no one acts. Younger employees and women often get the worst of it, but then again, respect was never really part of the company culture. The perks? A fruit basket once a week. In exchange, glorified overtime, minimal remote work, and mandatory holidays. But hey, you can’t have it all. In short, a company that favours the illusion of control over actual management. Move along—unless you enjoy orders, counter-orders, and counter-counter-orders.
