Pros

Working with the kids was very rewarding

Cons

If you plan to work at this school as a para, beware that you will not have any sort of training or preparation. You are thrown off the deep end and expected to know how to handle extremely stressful situations. Teachers seem to do the best they can but a human being can only do so much without support. Admin would rather stay in their offices and eat chocolate instead of supporting staff members. I believe that if the entire admin team was replaced, there may be some hope for this organization.

Pros

The students are wonderful, the classroom teams are great supports for me as an educator with people who are dedicated and care!

Cons

The pay isn’t the most competitive, but as a teacher it has other perks (supplies bought, flexible teaching materials, etc)

Pros

-The students and families are very lovely to work with. -Lots of opportunities to learn about and collaborate with other disciplines (OT, PT, SLP, MSW, AT, MT). -If it’s your first or one of your first jobs after grad school, it’s a good place to start. You’ll make a lot of connections with very knowledgeable individuals.

Cons

-The lack of communication between leadership and therapists/teachers. -There are cliques and issues with company culture. -If you have financial obligations, dependents, or want to live in Manhattan, you will need a second income, roommates, and/or wealthy parents. The pay is below average for your education level.
