Pros

I had a lot of freedom due to a complete lack of leadership. And for the right people who were best at networking, they could maneuver their way into higher positions. There's opportunity there for those who want to grasp it.

Cons

There was no clear leadership. This was during a time when they had more office locations though, and the different offices felt like different companies; they've probably fixed these problems by now. Thankfully for the work and clients, I still had my internal team to answer to, so work still moved forward.

Pros

Nice, smart people, collaborative environment.

Cons

Jobs are very subject to market volatility. When brands don't make money, they often cut back on content.

Pros

Most colleagues are nice and collaborative. Decent benefits. Competitive pay for an agency. Flexible work environment.

Cons

Post-merger layoffs spread out over several months. Homogeneous culture with minimal diversity. Laid off “for performance” after confirming upcoming PTO for a religious holiday that was only days away (and that I had requested months in advance), so take that as you will. Had to fight for unemployment benefits afterward. From a business standpoint, minimal client diversity. One major client rules the roost and causes reevaluation of staff and resources on quarterly basis. Not a sustainable business model in the current economic climate.
