I.T Professionals should NOT work at MTI - Anonymous employee Market Traders Institute Employee Review

Poor leadership & communication - After more than a year here, I have reached the conclusion that MTI does not have the capacity to inspire, motivate, or otherwise lead a higher-order technical team. I think the issue is they don't know how to manage people who have independent ideas and viewpoints on how to complete projects. Communication and planning is a facade here. Project managers are just glorified go-fers. Double-speak is very common. Dead-end career path - If you are not a revenue-generating Sales member, leadership does not care about the growth as an employee. As a technologist, you will NOT find MTI a place of challenging, rewarding work. There is no opportunity for mentorship or effective collaboration. At best, it's a place to earn a paycheck. If you are looking to improve your skills as an XYZ developer by being challenged or trying to make a difference in an organization -- MTI is the wrong place for you. Don't expect any valuable recognition or loyalty from MTI when you work here. From what I have observed, the only real qualifying criteria for a (meaningful) promotion is if you are related to the Martinez family. It's all about who you know within the company and how much you can cozy up to them. Little value is placed on real accomplishments towards company's goals. Sadly, these behaviors do nothing but breed mediocrity and complacency about initiatives (e.g. - "If ABC person can get away with that, maybe I can too.") within the company, driving down the overall quality of the people who work there. Low integrity - Search for this company on Google and you'll come across the sordid history of this company. Their predatory nature is still deeply embedded into its DNA. This is NOT an education company but a Sales company. Their end goal is simple -- to ensure that the owners grow rich by whatever means necessary. Finally, I am sure that an MTI "eagle" will respond to this post providing trivial counterpoints to the statement above. Keep in mind: they are being PAID to respond. Many of the positive reviews here are also being heavily solicited internally to try to drown out posts such as this one. Don't say you weren't warned about this place...
