Pros

co-workers behind the scenes are good people who work very hard for pennies and receive not one benefit. they always have openings since on average people stay a couple of months until they can find a real job that pays a real wage with enough hours to buy groceries that week. few employees have the skills that would help them move on, so those that stay are the slugs, the recent immigrants or those with a sweet deal doing bare minimum. since everyone is p/t, you're lucky if you work 18 hrs a week, the bright side of that is you have enough time to continue your search for a real job and get out of there.

Cons

dismal management,no training. they are more concerned with hangers then ringing sales, so if you're that customer complaining about the lines, bla bla, figure out what's going on and take your complaining to management not at the new person trying to help you. back breaking work if you are not at the registers. did i mention minimum wage, no benefits, a 10% discount on crap merchandise? my cat would do a better job running the place and would have more respect for employees. schedules are meaningless since they change them at will almost everyday and then they don't tell you! what's your point? I've witnessed grown people in tears because their schedule was changed and they were not told, they 'missed work' and then they received a warning...? another fine example of unqualified management. their mission statement is 'the economy is terrible and if you don't like it here, there are 100 people wanting this job' they should frame it.

Pros

The work is the same every day (at least for janitors), and you don't have many surprises. In my experience, there is a lot of leeway for who does what as long as it gets done. I don't personally mind helping out in all departments after I am done cleaning. Current store manager (not asms) is very nice and understanding.

Cons

The management (Assistant managers in my experience) is at each other's throats to be the best out there and suck up to the district manager. The pressure to coerce customers into buying into the TJX card is a bit much. It all trickles down to the front end, which then causes everyone to be unhappy. Compensation is low and raises are based on company loyalty first, then your efficiency.
