Pros

Martha's Table has a long track record and a strong reputation in the greater DC community, which makes it a positive place to work. Leadership and staff have stepped up during the pandemic and done right in support of DC families, which has increased the positive momentum. The organization is non-political but is dedicated to addressing the root causes of inequity -- and in effect, racial injustice -- in the city. New leadership in the last two years has hit its stride and is investing in the well-being, sustainability and professional development of the staff. The main building The Commons, opened in 2018, is a beautiful, high-energy place to work with great views of the city and surrounding area. People work at Martha's Table for the right reasons and are generally very good colleagues. Martha's Table has not laid off or furloughed anyone during the pandemic, and morale seems to have remained relatively high. Team members are proud to work here.

Cons

Martha's Table has grown dramatically in recent years, and there is a danger of trying to do too much. There is talk about helping families remain and thrive in Southeast DC in the face of citywide gentrification, but it's not clear how Martha's Table will accomplish this at scale, especially since housing is not an area we focus on. As with many organizations, there are siloes that can make it difficult to communicate across teams.

Pros

Martha's Table is such an amazing place to work. The work environment is great and the organization's ability to adapt to the new times that we are in is commendable.

Cons

There are no cons. If you aren't passionate about impacting the lives of others, this is not the place for you.

Pros

The benefits package is good, as well as the responsible unlimited PTO plan.

Cons

If you are looking to continue your growth in an encouraging and emotionally intelligent work place, do not expect that when accepting a position with Martha's Table. Majority of the executive and managerial staff here have clearly experienced corporate burnout in previous roles and applied the negative parts of their corporate learnings into the organizations work culture. Also, the salary ranges are below average for most of their positions however the job expectation list is above average.
