Pros
The management really doesn’t pay much attention to what you’re doing. Lot’s of cheap perks and ping pong. Good place to work if you want to be a big fish in a small pond.
Cons
Significant turnover. Of the five people who were hired by my manger before me, they all were either fired or quit. Six including me. The manager wasn’t present in the office, and blamed everyone else when something went wrong. That strategy only works if you can keep turning your staff over every few years, which they seemed to do. My manager was a total narcissist, far more interested in being perceived as a good engineer than actually being a good engineer. Compared to other firms in the area, they weren’t particularly good at engineering. The quality of the drawings was not a priority. My “manager” never did anything that resembled managing. They rarely approached me to discuss work, and typically ignored me save a few times a year. They were too busy pursuing their own interests to perform their job duties. Very corporate, profit driven management culture. Doing profitable work was more important than doing good work. Not a great place to be if you’re a young engineer. But probably great for the few who owned it. Everyone only looked out for themselves here. It was part of the culture, you better look out for your own career because no one else will do it for you, I think that was a quote from one of the founders that they kept sharing for some reason.
