Unfair and Disorganized - Director, Materials Marvin Engineering Employee Review

Some senior management have the management skills of a box of nails. Never in my entire career have I been provided the minimalist of guidance and then been chastised for not completing an assessment to their satisfaction which included staffing recommendations. Never mind the fact that during the assessment which was less that 2 months in the position, I had both my team managers out due to covid-19 quarantine and two of five supervisors were also out due to covid-19 and broken ankle. Another element of contention was that I was not in agreement to terminating one of my managers. I proposed to let me work with the manager in hopes of turning him around. Once again this was held against me as if my boss didn't have a choice - he did accept my proposal or to not accept it. So why than hold that against me, if he truly wanted him terminated he should have said so. I didn't have a dog in this fight but I did want to be fair and give the manager that opportunity to correct his deficiencies - Something unfortunately that wasn't given to me. Additionally, much which I wish to have accomplished was frustrated due to the continuous and consistent absences and lack of HR support to fill badly understaffed departments. Furthermore, HR is very dysfunctional something I brought up to my boss as the BCT process was very poorly executed which caused much additional work absences due to uncoordinated and ineffective communications between HR, the team member and the departmental management. Company uses the 6 month probation period as a hammer as opposed to a mechanism in which to mentor and coach the team member on how to overcome any perceived deficiencies especially where none were communicated beforehand and prior to being let go... No transparency. Very poor management.
