Pros
A job, something to do if you can not find a legitimate sales job. If you can close some basement jobs you can make some money - but there are many catches!!!
Cons
Endless driving to appointments at customer homes who've set up an in-home quote. The idea is to sell them an expensive basement in ONE sales call. You must go through a very lengthy scripted presentation, then measure and design the basement - then high pressure close on the spot! Most leads are terrible and complete waste of time - the minimin sales "set" is three hours and 99% of the time the clients want you out of there - they're told it's a 60-90 min presentation (total lie) If you do sell the basement the company scams you on your commission, often time they'll 'scrub" the job and take commission away, and you only get 75% of what the commission is until the job is completed many months later. What that does id make it impossible to leave because the company is always holding a large sum of money that's owed to you. Every salesman either ends up getting completely screwed on what they're owed or have to try and negotiate with the owners to get your rightful money. Most salespeople just leave and the company takes it all. Long hours driving, working every night and every Saturday! The turnover of people is huge, the churn is terrible, no one can last it's a death trap!
