Pros

There are some friendly people working here. If you are a senior artist, the workload is minimal. Lots of career opportunities. Good benefits.

Cons

This small studio boasts about wanting to be one of the best employers of vfx in the city, but what they have created is a workplace that is teeming with egos, and participates in active bullying of staff at every level from a management team that simply lacks experience yet think they are hotshots. Upper management does not care about the high turnover of staff, they will run their artists into the ground with overtime and then simply hire another artist to take their place. This high turnover is also in part to the stress they put on their junior artists who have no mentors to help them learn the processes of the studio. It feels like the upper level of senior staff have chosen this place to just coast through their careers at, leaving the hard work to the juniors. There is literally no pipeline here, none. So if you want to work here, you better know how to do everything straight out of the box. Newer tech and workflows are so out of reach for this place because of such a non-existent pipeline.

Pros

Team is nice to work with although they are all desperate for some assistance and training to be able to deliver results in such a fast paced environment.

Cons

You literally have no time to breathe, you are expected to be a self learning genius and results are expected based on this ability. If you cannot find answers by yourself it means you will have to work as many hours as needed until you find the answer, no one will help to train you on a task even if it has with a deadline. Management is great at setting deadlines, and put pressure on delivery but horrible at providing any sort of guidance, or basic tools to complete the work. Lack of standardization on systems used - you are expected to adopt all sorts of new technology and immediately become an expert user, because management will ask you about it. They think new technology is the solution to all, and are oblivious to the fact that nothing will change until there is more support and proper time to fix things. There is also a very bad culture of “oh this is the VFX business, there is no time for anything” … Nope, if management wanted things could be different, lame excuse.
