Pros
It only snows once a year in northern Virginia and, of course, that was my first day at Mayvin in 2021. The roads were completely covered with a sheet of ice, so my new manager said, “Stay home and we will get you up and running through the employee links on the company website since you don’t have a Mayvin laptop yet." I was so thankful that employee safety was the only thing the executives were concerned about that day. Considering Microsoft Teams or Zoom was now in everyday use in many companies, my first day was salvaged by not only my new boss welcoming me virtually but also the HR Manager and the FSO. All of the conversations that day made me feel like I was part of a family rather than some awkward, suit-wearing newbie reporting for the first day. From that day forward I received more mentorship than I ever expected to or ever had with any company I’d previously worked for. I am a person who struggles with confidence and getting pushed beyond my comfort zone a time or two provided me with valuable lessons learned, experiences, and successes that I never thought I would be capable of. When I started as a business development analyst, I knew exactly where I wanted my career to go long-term, but I had no idea how I would get there. Through generous and ample professional development opportunities, Mayvin both illuminated and straightened the dark and winding road I felt like I was on. Now I can look back and point to specific instances where the Mayvin family listened to me and put me in a position where I would thrive and advance my career exactly as I communicated it to them. If there is one thing I could recommend to any current or future Mayvinites, it is simply communicate your goals and aspirations and ask for help in achieving them. Mayvin will help you chase your dreams!
Cons
Most clients do not support fully remote work. Not an issue for me.
