Pros

Pretty flexible with schedule if you give a week notice. Free meal depending on how many hours you work. Pay for A's on your report card, but only if you work a certain amount of hours a week.

Cons

Rude customers. Have to find something to do even if everything is clean and there aren't any customers. You will be scolded if you are caught without a cleaning utensil if there aren't customers or you haven't been giving a task. Once you close the register, it won't open again. If you make a mistake you have to get a busy manager to come open it for you. You have to beat customers to the register or window if you are cleaning dishes or the lobby--an everyday task. Very fast job, especially for a first job or if your store is close to the interstate. Even if the store is consistently packed, you have to complete your side-tasks. You will have to stay late to complete them, no exceptions. I never left when I was scheduled to. I was asked to close on many occasions when it wasn't my responsibility. They don't really train you, you learn by practice, trial and error, ect.

Pros

Experience varies heavily depending on the owner/operator you work for. Free and discounted food. 2 weeks PTO. Vision, Dental and Health insurance. Offers rapid development opportunities.

Cons

Work-life balance is nonexistent. In fact, the director of operations has stated numerous times, “Work life balance is a myth”. The company states you are required to work 45 hrs/week minimum; Realistically, GM’s can expect to work 55-60 hours in store with constant calls and messages when home. The company does not count any work done outside of the restaurant toward your 45hr requirement. There is no training for this position as you are expected to figure it out on the job. They offer $2000 per month performance bonus but are always finding new ways to disqualify you and move the goalposts when you actually earn it.
