Pros

I work part time at a corperate owned location. Benefits: 50% off food for the indevidual emplyee. With the platinum card, I could also get a discount off my work shoes from PayLess. Uniforms are provided by the company, so no money has to leave the employee pocket. Apart from that, all the health benefits are only for full time workers. Opportunites for growth: Lot's of chances for promotion! It felts so rewarding to hear fellow coworker congradulate me during my two promotions. I've seen people who work around me be promoted to a manager position within the span of two years. There's also an anual opportunity for students to win a scholarship from the company. Training: McDonald's offered me paid training at the minimum wage. When I was promoted to crew trainer, and later team leader, I was paid to attend special training workshops to further develop my career within the company. Pay: McDonald's money is pretty darn good. I get paid $1+ above the minimum wage.

Cons

Stress: I see a lot of emplyees, both new and old, crumble under the pressure of needing to serve a crowd of guests in a limited amount of time. If you were looking for a lean-and-relax type of job, this isn't it. It's a fast paced, driven type of work environment. I have recieved many customer complaints over the four year course of my career. In order to stay sane, you must stop feeling. Favouritism: Some of the managers show obvious favouritism towards certain crew members when it comes to crew development (coaching emplyees for a chance at a promotion). Although there is opportunity for promotion, some crew are handicapped by the situation of things.

Pros

Experience varies heavily depending on the owner/operator you work for. Free and discounted food. 2 weeks PTO. Vision, Dental and Health insurance. Offers rapid development opportunities.

Cons

Work-life balance is nonexistent. In fact, the director of operations has stated numerous times, “Work life balance is a myth”. The company states you are required to work 45 hrs/week minimum; Realistically, GM’s can expect to work 55-60 hours in store with constant calls and messages when home. The company does not count any work done outside of the restaurant toward your 45hr requirement. There is no training for this position as you are expected to figure it out on the job. They offer $2000 per month performance bonus but are always finding new ways to disqualify you and move the goalposts when you actually earn it.
