Great training, awful owners - Anonymous employee Meeting Protocol Employee Review

Pros

Salary is higher than usual but blood is demanded in return. Travel, modern offices, learn good basic event planning skills you can carry to other jobs.

Cons

The owners. Where to start? They have created an amazing business and destroy it with their insular attitudes (that they are infallible), backward thinking and 'new money' beliefs. ALL STAFF, even the longest serving and most, most senior despise the owners and the negative comments and jokes about them are constant. Everyone hates them behind their back but plays so nice in front of them. Not healthy. They haven't seen how the rest of the industry has moved with the times and lack technology. The company culture is one of fear. Fear of saying the wrong thing, drinking the wrong drink, using the wrong pen! Hmm

Pros

Some travel, get to keep flight miles. Fast paced at times.

Cons

Small, family owed business. The job is mainly about data entry and shuffling papers. None of their software systems are integrated, making simple tasks tedious and time consuming. The company needs to be more in tune with modern technology and update their antiquated procedures. Too much paper. There is an extensive amount of information to learn and a very weak effort made by upper management to train people. Yet they have extremely high expectations right away. New employees are basically tossed a 200 page, home-made manual (with half the information you need missing) and told to figure it out. Beyond lacking any productive on-boarding program, there is a general air of negativity in the office and condescending attitude from upper management. They tend to give mixed signals and contradictory information. Even though you get to travel some, you work indoors the entire time (14 -15 hrs a day) that you're there and don't get to see the cities at all.
