Pros
*Great co-workers, challenging work, fun environment *They practice what they preach - recycling, composting, reducing energy usage, renewable energy (solar, wind, etc.) - really cool to be a part of that! *Solid business units - you can be proud to work there *They hire smart people (sadly, they don't use them to their fullest!) *People outside the company respect it - nice to work for a company that has the reputation it does
Cons
*Management really doesn't like to hear the truth, particularly the owner, especially if you have any kind of criticism - he takes things very personally and you will be marked as a traitor from that point on *Hire smart people then don't use their smarts - as an employee, you are constantly undercut by management, particularly the owner who thinks he knows more than you do just because he started the company in his basement *Work/life balance is encouraged, but you will be criticized for maintaining it! *Constant calls from vendors looking for their payments *Company preaches ethics and integrity but they do things that are questionable *HR doesn't keep confidences - careful what you tell them *Check your pay stubs carefully each pay period! Document any inconsistencies. *Squeezing more out of less...layoffs, people being taken to part-time...does not instill a lot of confidence and employees are beat.
