Pros
There are SO many things I want to say about the damage this company has caused me, but I will refrain as a means to not expose myself. I joined Melio when it was still a relatively small company, at a time where they still seemingly cared about their employees, when the term "FaMelio" was still being used. As the company scaled, a lot of what made Melio feel special vanished. Upper management forgot how to value their employees and the once positive work environment became unbearable. Some pro’s I took from my two years at Melio: - It's a good company to have on my resume, and has allowed me to advance in my career. - After leaving the company and moving on I learnt the true meaning of being valued by an employer. - I finally got my confidence back - I had some incredible coworkers (many of which I know are still miserable there) - Nice perks (hybrid model, dog friendly office, Cibus, stocked kitchen etc)
Cons
- Employees disappear into thin air. Multiple times I witnessed immediate team members get laid off/fired/leave without any word internally. I used to find out they were no longer employed when emails bounced and Slack’s were deactivated. - SO much politics and favoritism (I have NEVER seen anything like it) - I have never felt so under appreciated in all my work life. - Leadership are extremely disconnected and walk around thinking they are better than everyone else (this was not the case when I first joined the company) - Rather than growth, I felt I was moving backwards during my time at Melio. I continuously had people being put on top of me (due to scaling), there was no room for growth whatsoever. - More time is spent running around looking for answers than actually working. -- You begin working on one project, spending hours chasing clueless people, and after giving hours of blood, sweat, and tears, they decide to switch directions and all that work goes down the drain. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company.
