Pros

Great product Smart marketing Not so smart pricing policy OMG Great social media activity Guess it's a pro but a lot of junior profiles on senior positions

Cons

I've thought long and hard about reviewing Mendix. There is so much to tell. I've met nice people and others that are totally not fitted for the job. Probably true for a lot of organizations. A lot of folks left in the 2-year span I was working for Mendix. On LinkedIn, you can easily find them sorted by location. Let me tell you about Mendix. I had 3 'managers' in year 1, ranging from the VP EMEA to a sales director to finally a new primarily inexperienced sales colleague being promoted to Sales Manager. The stereotype micromanager with no style or proper sales ethics. There has not been any hiring process for that function and this person just got the job from his mate the sales director. The man is not fitted for the job. Being a good salesperson does not make you a good manager, a textbook example of how a system fails. The initial account allocation changed several times during the first quarter of my employment. The region and the vertical I was supposed to handle were decimated and a new allocation was imposed without any chance of participation in that decision. My business network was completely neglected. At that point, I should have left as my trust in the management was gone. The sales strategy Start-Structure-Scale that is promoted throughout the company I perfectly applied when signing the first deal with a significant enterprise which is one of the biggest companies in my region. Not a single word, call or email on this ‘start’ deal from anyone in management knowing this account will bring tons of revenue in the year to come. I have to say I was disappointed there was no award from anyone. I've seen it differently in other companies. In short, a small Dutch company with a navel-gazing mentality that got acquired by a large Siemens with now Mendix managers brownnosing the Siemens guys and thinking solely about their own positions. Pathetic. International inexperienced managers. Success Managers and Sales and Professional Services are all on their islands /silos and interact solely motivated by their narrow goals and totally neglecting to properly support each other in the great goals of keeping customers happy. Thanks to some folks with decent business ethics some customers are well being served. Derek Roos, Founder & CEO left in nov2021, the global CRO left soon after, and lots of salespeople left. New sales folks have to build pipelines from scratch while veteran Mendix Sales automatically inherited accounts from the sales folks that left and thus build a very solid portfolio of accounts and revenue. The Mendix Blue attitude is a distant theoretic slogan. I'm very fortunate to have left this organization. There was no trust in the management. As in many organizations, HR is typically hiring and fire department with no proper understanding whatsoever of legal matters. Never had a functional review nor an opportunity to review managers either. Internal job application is not appreciated. Please HR do abstain from any reaction. Nobody wants to hear, you had your chance. Just make sure you pay everyone correctly for their accomplishments. Again Mendix lost its Why and is only interested in revenue!
