Pros

Well established remote working culture Will work with some of the most compassionate and intelligent people Benefits

Cons

- Lack of support/direction/vision from senior leadership - White/US centric strategic thinking for a "global" organization - Gender equity issues - men are promoted, women are hired externally into leadership positions - Values are not demonstrated in the strategy or day-to-day work - Unaligned org-wide theory of change - Began hiring people that consumed animal products at a vegan organization - Lack of transparency - Performative anti-racism work, threatened internal changemakers - Retaliation - Overworking and doing three jobs beyond your job description is praised, but could also go unrecognized if you challenge leadership - One SVP has all of the hiring/firing/promotion authority, managers do not have autonomy to decide what happens to their team as far as career achievement - Mental health is not taken seriously, performative "self-care" is touted as the solution to being overworked and underpaid - Overall, it has felt like change was not being made for animals because of the toxic culture and red tape bureaucracy maintained by senior leadership

Pros

-good healthcare benefits -really liked my team, great people -mission driven and everyone genuinely believes in it

Cons

There are some things you notice once you join the organization as with anywhere but nothing glaringly stands out. Maybe fyi to those applying that it is a very EA oriented organization so all programs will be aligned with that funding stream.

Pros

Working for a great mission. Feeling like I'm making a difference.

Cons

RIFs have changed the organization for the worse. Morale is at an all time low. Leadership stay in their bubbles and make decisions without transparency. No communication. Sad that a once mighty organization has begun to fall, even under a new CEO.
