Pros

I work with the smartest team I’ve ever encountered. I’ve met some great mentors here Merkle has the raw materials and access to training/research to get you where you need to go. Work here for a few years if you want to build your know how and make some contacts in the biz - then have an exit strategy. A career spent here will have you sitting in the same role for a decade.

Cons

Leadership is unable to articulate a concrete plan for our success beyond “get to growth” - it’s been 3 years since raised or promotions were given at scale. The company is removing all DEI programming because of our current admin but doesn’t have the guts to make a formal announcement on it. Parent company, Dentsu, allows our managers almost no ability to make decisions on their employees’ careers.

Pros

Merkle goes through a thoughtful process to hire people. As a result, they have really smart people who know their stuff. If you are early career, it is a great place to learn. Also, because they have such big clients, you earn lots of "street cred" as you build your resume. When you start interviewing for your next role, you get to brag about working with some of the largest brands in the world.

Cons

The biggest con is that they are leaning on offshore talent a ton! When I left, they were starting to offshore so much that it was turning into a production heavy as opposed to strategy heavy agency. It is no longer the amazing company that David Williams, Craig Dempster and others had build.
