Pros
Since this company has such low morale and a really bad reputation and super high turnover it is easy to get a job even if you worked there previously and got terminated. The way to advance is through butt kissing & buddying up to the so-called leads and invisible mgmt. - they could not care less about qualifications (ie: ASCP credentials) and competence when promoting people. Also, if you want a phlebotomy position you will be happy to know that Metro lets you goof off and play on your cell phone as much as you want - it is well known that phlebotomists 'run the show' at Metro and do whatever they please. Some make more money than TECHS! Where else can you find that?
Cons
Lousy LIS from the 80's, really bad insurance benefits, super low pay compared to other facilities, several very lazy, incompetent 'techs' with 4 yr science (or whatever) degrees & no clinical program training, mostly rude co-workers, pathetic training, reactive mgmt. as opposed to proactive (they love to write up 'purple sheets', but offer no solutions to problems). There are some senior employees that are biding time to retirement and just don't care anymore. Metro values TATs over quality of results, RI is a filthy and almost unbearable cold lab. Most phlebotomists have bad attitudes (just DON'T care), come in to play with their friends (some look like a tattooed 'side-show') do as little work as possible and collect a paycheck - they screw up patient draws constantly. 'Mgmt' seems to love them, though - see 'Pros' above.
