Pros
Students are an absolute joy
Cons
1. There has been years of toxic culture built into the system, such that new employees either learn to contribute to this toxicity to survive or become victims to it. Tenured teachers micromanage and nitpick new teachers to point where it should be considered bullying. Ironically these teachers are not using best practices or evidence based practices to teach. Similar to toxic army culture of hierarchy, these teachers push down on inexperienced teachers instead of guiding or lifting them up. 2. There is absolutely no respect for students here. Some students are minimally verbal but that does not mean they should be treated this way. Students are yelled at, man-handled and made to do humiliating things like "talk to a dustbin" as forms of "punishment." And these are tenured teachers or even senior teachers. Teachers have compared students to dogs receiving behaviour training. It's absolutely sick. I was so happy to leave. Teachers need to re-trained and educated on the science behind behaviour management and how to treat neurodivergent people. 3. Pay is terrible
