Pros
Great benefits - paid health insurance and really good retirement / pension compared to private sector work. Stable and steady employment compared to corporate world.
Cons
Bureaucracy gets in the way of exercising common sense and good judgement. If it makes sense to you, don't try it here. Also you're not getting promoted on your own merit - if you don't know someone or don't have friends in high places you're not getting promoted. If you get called for an interview while working here, be warned that its to have a group of candidates to rule out and score low so they can promote who they want. Nepotism is alive and well here in the worst way imaginable... Just be aware of it and know it's there so that you will not be too disappointed...
