Pros

MVG is a new, innovative, somewhat cleverly designed gaming facility located in a prime location right off Exit 23 on I-75 between Cincinnati and Dayton. The parent companies that formed this facility, Delaware North Companies and Churchill Downs, Inc., invested over $125 million into the building and opening of this new gaming destination.

Cons

There is NO communication between front of house employees, back of house employees, in addition to external gaming or trackside customers, with the Executive Commitee. People love their titles of Senior Director or Director of Such and Such, and either are too busy reacting to the General Manager's constant micromanaging, or have their noses buried so far into their own egos to listen. The Executive Committee appears to reach out by standing outside the front entrance so that customers can address them once a month. Meanwhile, true gaming customers are offended by this. The Committee should be approaching the customer, not the other way around. Meanwhile, we continue to lose revenue and watch our players return to their original gaming destination of choice, as we can not maintain their loyalty. No comps, no one managing the front line employees, and general disorganization. It's very hard to believe that a $125 million dollar gaming establishment was built in the middle of a corn field to be allowed to mismanaged so terribly! The two corporate entities behind MVG really have no idea what is going on.

Pros

Exciting and fun atmosphere to work! All shifts available. Meet alot of interesting people and make lifetime friendships. They do alot of neat things for employee morale. Most seem to love working here. It is very entertaining. Location is great.

Cons

The pay isn't the greatest. There's really only one department outside of management making good money. You must share your tips, which is not fair cause some are liked more than others. Have a big turnover, however the bad always seem to weed theirselves out.

Pros

Decent work environment Very little customer interaction Decent amount of PTO (if you're able to take it) Guaranteed hours (if you work 6 hr you're still paid for 8) Free stuff (Food, promo material etc) a few times a year Small team that always works together

Cons

Very Physical Low pay, about $5/hr less than similar places Always understaffed due to high turnover (due to pay:work ratio) Very repetitive, and injuries are very common but usually minor No real room for growth, Must leave the department to move up. Union is useless for us (No union rep in 4 years) Yearly pay increases lower than inflation for years. No Sr. management in building during 2 busiest days every week No HR in building during weekend or after 5 (but large HR team) If you get capped on PTO, you lose it. No cashing out anymore so you just lose that benefit until you're staffed enough to use it again.
