No prior qualifications or experience necessary for helpdesk or sales roles leads to developers and managers belittling employees Poor software stability breeds contempt for development team, and attracts irate customer complaints Excellent experience of working in a medium-sized family firm that still thinks small Blame culture means former staff are always childishly held accountable for current staff's issues Pay is low enough that you will be tempted by any carrots that Management dangle in front of you

Below par sector pay Corporate ownership of company more focused on accounting than the value of staff, so perks are usually in short supply, however immediate management team of division do what they can

Pros

- Fantastic management team (including Directors) who are extremely approachable & always open to hearing your thoughts, ideas and feedback. - Now a larger company that has grown from a small family run business, but still has that 'family' feeling. - Being part of a larger company comes with more benefits (ability to advance in your career, paid for recognised qualifications available, pension, discounts to various other things e.g gym memberships etc) - Being able to sell and/or support products that you believe in, and that can really help increase reading & literacy levels for children. - A team of Developers that are continuely developing the products to fit in with the ever changing technologies to engage their audience. - Excellent customer base to deal with: teachers, literacy coordinators, librarians, IT techs, SLT teams are all great people. - Good work life balance (working hours). - Company keen to create a happy & engaged team of employees and will book team building events, Christmas parties.

Cons

It's hard to think of anything to mention in this section, after many years of working at MLS I only left the company for a new challenge, and have still stayed in the EdTech sector as I liked it so much.
