Pros

your work schedule is flexible, you can choose your own shift, and your work is purely remote

Cons

your job as a "reporter" consists of rewriting corporate press releases, day in day out, boring and tedious. sometimes corporates bury information and you have to guess what they meant or else you will cause ire of your editor the job at MT Newswires has a sweatshop feel as you are expected to be constantly producing copy, without a break. this company is an ultimate content treadmill and I would not be surprised to find out that they have a special algorithm that watches reporters’ keystrokes. It’s hard to imagine how people work hours-long shifts producing the required amount of copy without a burnout they are too cheap to provide you with a work email address so your personal Inbox is flooded daily with analyst ratings, press releases and other company information the job is without benefits, no vacation or anything else, even if you work 8 hours a day, so technically fulltime this company has truly mastered the outsourcing concept as most writers are hired in the Middle East or select Asian countries such as the Philippines where it does not have to offer employees any benefits

Thanks for taking the time to write a review, but we're sorry to hear that your experience at MT Newswires has been anything less than stellar. We pride ourselves in being a workplace that values its contributors, supporting their professional growth, while also allowing for a rewarding work/life balance. If anyone were to feel burnt out or unhappy in their role, we would hope that they felt empowered to get in touch so that we can work through ways to make productive changes. Beyond annual satisfaction surveys and review periods when honest feedback is welcomed and celebrated, our HQ team is only ever a message away and always happy to listen. Please feel free to get in touch and I'd be happy to discuss your concerns.

Pros

Work isn't demanding. You can choose your hours as long as you coordinate them with your HR.

Cons

The news platform they use to grab news articles is Slack. So inefficient, if you're unlucky or aren't fast enough, several times in a day your story gets killed because editors don't realize two people grabbed the same story twice. Their platform for writing stories look like it's made in the 90s. Very basic. Editors don't have a unified process of editing, so what is right for one editor, will be wrong for one. That means your writing will change depending on who will grab your story for editing. They tolerate disrespectful editors just because they're tenured. The pay isn't equal. At first, you think you're getting a high salary but they pay you according to the country you're from. So, imagine the disparity between US-based reporters versus those in developing countries.
