Pros
- Extraordinarily collaborative environment with friendly and driven employees. Everyone at the company is more than willing to collaborate on projects and analyses, join in on group brainstorms, and provide feedback on individual projects. The people here have great attitudes and are a pleasure to work alongside. - The fast-paced and autonomous atmosphere allows you to learn skills at an accelerated pace and, to a reasonable degree, work on the things that you most want to work on. If you come up with a project and can justify lift, the company will more often than not provide you with time and resources to execute said project. - Great work/life balance (good PTO and sick day allowances, as well as a strong emphasis on mental health awareness) - Fun events that foster a close-knit team, both remote and in-person! - Recognition - If you’re working hard and producing good output, it will absolutely be recognized. Weekly company-wide shout-outs and monthly ‘MVP’ awards are a couple examples of this. - Transparency - Over the past year, Minerva has made tremendous strides to engender a much more transparent environment, whether that be via monthly updates on financials and company progression, daily stand-ups, or high visibility into performance dashboards.
Cons
- I wouldn’t necessarily classify this as a con, but rather dependent on your preferred working environment/style: this is a growing startup, so you have to be comfortable with ambiguity and autonomy. This isn't a company where you come in every day and are told exactly what to do. If you want to stand out, you should be proactive, unafraid to speak up about ideas and feedback, and comfortable with setting goals for yourself and the work that you’re involved in. - Base salary can be a bit below average for some positions, though equity is often baked into offers, as will be the case at many start-ups.
