Not a safe space for people of color - Anonymous employee Minor Figures Employee Review

Many times I felt out of place or too black to be working here. I was the only POC onboard for months, and the other POC that was hired left quickly after I found a new job and left. I should have known this would not have worked out because even in the coffee industry it's hard to not hire diversely. I was told not to use slang when talking to my customers because it makes me seem un-intelligent...Never had a complaint from a customer this was a personal and "performance" issue my new boss had with me even though my previous boss had no issue and while I watched many of my white colleagues speak similarly when talking about the coffee industry or to customers.
