Pros

People are nice and you can work remotely. They have good benefits and pay is okay

Cons

Hard to move up and the bonus system is supposed to be on individual performances but it seems more like how well your project is doing. Plus you’re being compared to other people

Pros

Mixi has a lot of money, and they often blur the lines between different jobs, so you can potentially make room for yourself and climb the ladder.

Cons

Japanese work culture. Mixi likes to say all kinds of nice things about itself, but once you actually start there, it's soon clear that it's not as nice you were told. Unpaid overtime for anything less than 40 hours, bosses angered if you go home when work ends and don't stay extra, blind trust between senior team members and management means you either fall in line with the rest or get an earful. "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down." People at Mixi, even the international staff, all have the same self-deprecating mindset. And if you're not like them, it's not going to work out for you.

Pros

- Company is driven by challenging new things, in that regard employees (even at the staff level) have a lot of freedom to act on those inhibitions. Of course, that is if they choose to speak up. - One of the more comfortable working environments for gaming in Japan, people are generally friendly and easy to talk to. - Moving roles/positions within the organization is relatively simple and easy, giving the employees exposure to a variety of businesses. - Amazing work life balance. Within reason, taking vacation and leaving on the dot is never an issue. But don't expect any pay raises or high bonuses if you only do the bare minimum that is expected. - Employees are encouraged to focus on career growth as most of the staff are young (mid 20s~30s) including senior management, which provides a hip and non-disconnected company culture. - Getting a very high performance review can yield a large bonus (this can happen twice a year).

Cons

- Performance reviews can be biased based on work project you work on, which in turns determines salary increases and bonuses. This gives less incentive at times for people to leave projects that are doing well. They are also very structured which is a positive but not defined well by roles, which can be unfair. - Company executives need to take on much more of a leadership role in directing and communicating the organization's visions and goals. - Can't expect any large salary increases over time so people aim to get large bonuses. This makes people focus on short term goals more as opposed to contributing to the long term growth of the company.
