Pros
There are many very talented, driven, & overall good people that work there. The pay is likely above average for area companies but not as competitive as it could be.
Cons
Lack innovation. Technology & platforms from 8 years ago haven't been updated. There is clear favoritism towards updating some product lines while completely ignoring others. Customers ask for updates on products & features but no delivery from the company. New technical platforms that do come out the majority of the time is not organic but from acquisition- even then, those acquisitions are unstable. Chances to develop and grow are stifled despite excellent performance- unless you are in good favor of very few. The reasonable, well-intended, and communicative managers who look out for those reporting to them seem to be purposely driven out or fired. Upper management does not communicate a plan for their vision of the company or how they will get there- employees are expected to blindly believe in a dream without a plan. This company also runs far too lean, burning out otherwise driven, hard working employees. The lack of resources also sacrifices customer needs and satisfaction & harms reputation. The lack of concern around customer satisfaction is abominable. There is not a concept of true "teamwork"- in fact, the style is to pit teams against each other- the motto is "Best team wins!" They don't seem to grasp that true teamwork should be cross-functional, helping the business grow by contributing and helping across teams. Overall the culture can be quite toxic. Additionally the benefits working for a Bay area biotech are far less than other area companies.
