Pros

Friendly environment, for the most part. Some holiday lunches, alcohol included, and watch special events on TV, mostly sports.

Cons

"Special relationship" no one talks about or are afraid to bring up for fear of retaliation or just no one wants to be the one to call it out. But little does anyone know this is slowly bringing down the dept to the point where the good ones go and the ones that stay are just there for fear they cant get a better job (which they can). But the good ones are made to look like they are/were no good at their job or incompetent (although they are/were there for years), when in fact its their "leader" that doesn't have a clue what they are doing cause they are too busy doing googly eyes at a tool that isn't going to save the company or dept - and can't think for themselves, so just lie and blame it on someone else. No one does or says anything so nothing changes, and the few that do speak up...well no one listens anyway. But lets hire interns to do a full-time job, that'll solve everything - the company doesn't want to spend money on new people anyway. And they'll hire their special friends so that they can collect the referral money cause they need it (not like anyone else could use it) but surprise, that person also isnt good at their job.
