Pros

The people that work at Move are intelligent, skilled and experienced. Everyone is friendly and great to work with. This industry is an emerging one. Although the competitive landscape is increasing, one great reason to work for Move is because they are currently the industry leader. Finally, although there are offices on both east and west coasts, headquarters are located in American Fork, UT - just south of Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City is a great place to live.

Cons

Work/Life balance is not a consideration for the executives. Many employees work very long hours without compensation or recognition. Much is expected, little is given back to the employees. Another downside is that although heavily funded by investors, Move just laid off a large percentage (30% +?) of its employees. Keep a close eye on whether cost cutting measures allow Move to become profitable and a true player in the industry.

Pros

I cannot think of a single positive experience I had while working for this company. Some of the people are nice, but others are complete tools. If you want to go to work every day for a place that is so busy being political that little else gets done, Move Networks is for you.

Cons

Now the cons are many... The facility itself is dirty and run down and there are only two toilets for at least a hundred employees, so your bathroom time gets far too friendly for my taste. The code base is ancient, so if you're a Python/Django programmer and like working with Django 1.1, this place is for you. The company itself is run like Novell Jr., so if you like pointless politics, and if you like being stabbed repeatedly in the back by know-nothing, self-important, pointy-haired middle manager buffoons looking for both a scape goat and a promotion, you'll love Move Networks (now Dish Digital). Finally, if you like taking Scrum to its ultimate extreme, where you have pointless, stand-up circle jerks multiple times a day, then Move Networks is for you.
