Pros

A lot of great people to work with, fun times with the company, and gained a lot of experience from working there

Cons

Started out enjoying the job a lot, but as time went on and the company changed direction to grow more (which I didn't find bad, just didn't feel like it was handled or portrayed well) I didn't feel very cared for or like my opinion mattered towards the end of my time there, Felt overworked, constantly having to work extra hours and on weekends and work hotline, with only 3 total workers rotating shifts for this. Eventually got in trouble for working too much overtime and didn't feel like management took the time to understand why there was overtime, so would continue working extra hours to get stuff done and just not clock hours for it. Often times didn't feel appreciated for everything I did and my team did, and felt like anything that went bad fell on us and we were blamed for it and made to create new systems to stop one mistake from happening again (where in the moving industry a lot of mishaps can be out of your control, and while I don't feel like management meant to come off this way, it often felt like we were being blamed for everything bad, even if it wasn't our fault). It felt like we didn't receive good feedback, often being given empathy sandwiches (told a good thing, bad thing, than good thing which often dilutes the overall message they're trying to give) and it felt like feedback was built up and given all at once in 6 month reviews (which were also always held very late) and felt like we never got in real time feedback, leading to shock when in reviews and ultimately what lead me to leave the job. It got to a point where I would be throwing up before work almost daily from anxiety about what I might get in to trouble for that day, or all the work that had to be done, or how many extra hours I would have to work and not get compensated for. Went from feeling like a workplace of collaboration to a workplace of just being told what to do. Felt like it was pushing workers to go over the top and work more and more with out being compensated or appreciated for it. They're pushing hard to grow the company which is great, but it started to feel like they would do whatever it takes to make more money at the cost of the movers and the office workers who don't have a say in what goes on to be overworked and made to feel not cared about. No HR to help with anyone feeling this way, and didn't feel like you could express true feelings to management as their only focus was more revenue and less problems.

Pros

This can be a very fun place to work! The owners preach a "work hard, play hard" mantra and it keeps work feeling light, exciting, and enjoyable. There are often small events, get togethers, and parties throughout the year.

Cons

There's a lot of subjectivity from top down in the company. No clear rules/regulations for disciplinary actions, no clarification on management roles, functions, or activities; thus leaving office staff and movers confused. The company may be small but it has large aspirations, whether or not that may be conveyed well or not. This company also operates with methods that are "lets see if this sticks to the wall or not" which causes a lot of trial and error, meaning they do not have a clear idea as to do what next (and that can be okay) but there tends to be a negative reaction when stating the obviousness of things falling through consistently because of that. For a company that has been operating since 2008, you would assume there'd be more definitive structure. Due to consistent communicational issues throughout the office during peak busy seasons, the movers are left to clean up messes, and endure shotty scheduling and preparedness. Many movers specifically have issues with pay rates, opportunism, and demonstrated value at Move-Tastic. There is no health benefits for movers on staff.
