Pros

The people I worked alongside in production were some of the nicest people I've met. The job wasn't terribly difficult and the pay was good for what you were doing.

Cons

In a couple of different words: Nepotism. Favoritism. Recognition based on anything but work performance. Seriously, if I could give no stars I would. The CEO does not take kindly to any sort of criticism, constructive as it may be, which in turn makes lower level management walk on eggshells around him. He pushes his agendas on the entire company in the form of "book club," which is just an excuse for him to get in front of the company and tell everyone what they're doing wrong in their own personal lives compared to what he's doing right in his. He never misses a chance to let you know how benevolent of a boss he is, which defeats the purpose. What's more discouraging is the company weeds out the people who don't whole-heartedly buy into the "world class company who is #1 in employee engagement" thing (let's be honest, it's a company that makes wooden plaques), regardless of their performance, and only keeps the employees who are either 1. Related to or good friends with the CEO, or 2. Are brainwashed into thinking he's the best thing since sliced bread, and may well be the second coming of Jesus Christ.

This is actually one of the more clever reviews we've ever gotten. Touche'... ;0) By the way, we actually use "metrics" to determine WHO the "Employees of the Month" are in each department within the company. Otherwise, it would degenerate into a "personality contest"... and that is the wrong way to run a business. Otherwise, we'd have what you mentioned: "Nepotism. Favoritism. Recognition based on anything but work performance." :0) Yes, real live "performance" is the key to success. "Clicks" and "you like her better than me" don't cut it in the real world job market. ;0) Sadly, you only saw us as a company that "makes wooded plaques"... and that's a huge part of why people don't make it here. They don't understand what we're actually doing... in "impacting millions (yes millions by now) of lives across America, Many times these winners being recognized have never received appreciation from their employer... or anyone else in their entire lives. We help change that... and put smiles on people's faces and pride in their hearts. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We hope you're able to find a place where you'll be a better fit for the company culture. To your success, David Long, CEO
