A great organisation where you serve troops serving in difficult circumstances - led by poor directors. - Anonymous employee NAAFI Employee Review

Pros

Self fulfilment - devlop a 'can-do' attitude Possible with commitment to progress as far as you want to go Opportunity to visit parts of the world that are not usually on anyones to-do list

Cons

Very poor at listening to staff - pretend to do employee surveys and when they say it as it is scrap the process Every Operating Board Member thinks they have to rubbish whatever their predecessor did - and promise they'll improve things (which they rarely do)

Pros

I was based in Germany, so had free accommodation in old army blocks and my wage was tax free.

Cons

Nobody really knew who managed us, we only occasionally saw a senior manager. Wages were terribly low for the work I did and there was no social aspect at all, you worked and went home. When I called in sick once in the 5 years I worked there, my manager sent someone to my block to see if I was actually sick or faking it. I knew my job inside out and better than anyone, I had gold stars, but when my assistant manager job came open, I was snubbed and someone externally was put in with place to do the role, as they knew the manager and were friends.
