Pros

Non-profit organization with a great mission to help educate youth and the construction workforce. It has grown a great deal since I started working here but is still a small enough company that everyone knows each other by name and treats each other like family. Nice office with gym and surrounded by nice outdoor spaces to get away for lunch or recreation. The company also offers team building activities from time to time to give employees a break (kickball day coming up!). Benefits are the better than anywhere I've worked in my career (health, dental, vision, life insurance, awesome 401K, vacation leave, sick leave, bereavement leave, employee assistance program, etc, etc.).

Cons

Not everyone is a fit for the culture. Employees who focus on their roles, help others when asked and are willing to go the extra mile when necessary tend to have long careers and get rewarded for their hard work and dedication. Those preoccupied with things like why this person was allowed to do this while I wasn't allowed to do that, why doesn't the company have such and such a policy that I wish it did, etc. are generally not a great fit and do not last long.

Pros

There are still some good people left. The way NCCER is being run though, they probably won’t be for long.

Cons

Where to start… this place could be a comedy with how awful the decision-making, communication, and trust is. Maybe a tragic comedy. Someone wake Shakespeare up, maybe he could actually make something decent come out of this place. Leadership has been filled with incompetent and egotistical charlatans. They show through their actions that the do not value their employees, everyone is just a butt in a seat to them. They will lie to your face, tell you you’re valued, say there is a safe space to voice your concerns. Do not listen to them. If what they hear does not complement their self-righteous, diluted vision (which is constantly changing and often unclear), you will be screwed over. Everyone is expendable. The people who do the best work and actually understand healthy culture are seen as enemies to the demagogues who lord over the halls.
