Pros

There’s decent salary, benefits, and opportunities to travel. There are some great people in various departments, who were great to me during my time there.

Cons

The amount of turnover within this company is mind-boggling. Some people, including myself were hired after spending years at other companies only to be fired within months due to “performance.” There’s a lot of favoritism among the few people who were there the longest. There are rumors of the C-Suite behaving very inappropriately at events, as well as treating employees very poorly. There was just no way to ever feel settled or welcomed, which in return destroys your confidence quickly. I would strongly advise anyone without experience in government or military to avoid this company like the plague.

Pros

The people are the best part of working here. Everyone is supportive and fun to be around. The work also feels meaningful, and there’s a lot of variety in the roles and projects. I have gotten to work on some really big projects and get to grow my skills. Overall, leadership is transparent. I feel like we have a good sense of what’s going on and why decisions are being made.

Cons

At times, you have to push pretty hard to get things done. This is the first time we are doing some of these projects, so there isn’t always a roadmap; you need to be comfortable with ambiguity and figuring things out as you go.

Pros

NSTXL operates in a space that serves a legitimate need within the government and defense sector. There are also some genuinely good people throughout the organization who work hard, care about what they do, and do their best despite the challenges around them.

Cons

Leadership appears to lack the experience and operational discipline needed to effectively scale and manage a growing organization. The COO has a significant influence on day-to-day operations, and many of the challenges within the organization can be traced back to inconsistent leadership, shifting priorities, and a lack of clear strategic direction. Decisions often feel reactive rather than strategic, resulting in frequent changes in focus and execution. As pressure increases, accountability can be inconsistent, and responsibility for challenges is sometimes shifted rather than owned, creating frustration for employees and leaders trying to execute against company objectives. There is also a noticeable perception of favoritism that has negatively affected trust and morale across parts of the organization. Until stronger leadership practices, clearer direction, and a greater emphasis on accountability are established, the company is likely to continue facing many of the same recurring challenges.
