Pros
Open 24/7 but students are regulated and teachers throttled.
Cons
In August '25 a post appeared that called out the abuses of teachers/tutors by Native Camp(NC). Teacher/tutors sitting online for hours waiting for students to appear but pupils are sporadic. The same issue for many years. NC will send out email message to tutor/teachers announcing "get new students on ____ and ___"(specific dates). But it's only propaganda. Teachers who have been loyal to NC have found these issues: NC in trying to create an AI teacher base has used teacher voices without permission. Yes, NC wants to replace real humans with AI instructors without the actual person's permission. Recently NC IT techs have been hindering online tutors/teachers with the following tactics: 1) In playing the online game "Memory" in which cards with images on them are "flipped" by teachers and students to match the teachers have found that after they flip a card the next card is being flipped remotely. 2) Teachers have also complained that on their dashboard after establishing their "target teaching minutes" the counter has been repeatedly set to zero. 3) Teachers/tutors are also complaining that, even staying online for up to 14 hours per day, they are hindered remotely from achieving the bonus level 2500 minutes when their access to students is limited to a crawl up to the date pay period deadline. 4) Same issue repeatedly: A teacher/tutor works up to a 5 rating only to have fake students, sent by non-native teachers, to waste class time with such behavior as: a) "I've traveled to such places as blah-blah-blah and blah-blah-blah" This student was being coached off camera by another person. The student kept looking off camera and going "huh?", "huh?". This student then tanked the teacher's rating. b) Other students coming in to the virtual class for a few minutes, cutting the class, and tanking the tutor's rating. These are usually the "free conversation" option. NC REFUSES TO INVESTIGATE STUDENT MISBEHAVIOR. They will only remove a "derogatory rating" if there is a "technical issue". Native Camp "managers" often reply to tutor complaints with such answers as: You need a new photo, video, written greeting, EVEN IF THE TUTOR HAS COMPLIED WITH THIS REQUEST SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST. NC pays native speakers about $2.99 US for working with high energy, effort, and ernestness. NOT NEARLY ENOUGH for a LIVING INCOME OR SUPPORT YOUR FAMILY WHEN THROTTLING TACTICS ARE EMPLOYED. There are many up and coming or established platforms that pay much better for the same effort. These types of complaints have been posted for years and emails sent to the ownership but NATIVE CAMP DOES NOT CARE.
