Pros

It's been a year since I left and time has only given me a more positive perspective on how well this company is run. Although I have learned a lot in my new role at my current employer, I can't help but wish that my current company was as good as Near Earth. The leadership here is awesome. They have a unified direction and they work towards goals together. The leadership makes their intentions known to the whole company and they do their best to get everyone's buy-in before moving forward. At any point, you can just walk over to their desk and have a deep conversation about what the strategy is and how you can fit in. This company produces cutting-edge technology and it was awesome to be a part of that. One thing to be careful of when working for a small company is trying to produce technology on a reasonable timeline. I feel like Near Earth does a good job of working with its customers to set up realistic and achievable expectations. This produces better products and doesn't stress out the engineers so much. If you are considering working for Near Earth, don't hesitate. This company is amazing and you will progress a lot here.

Cons

Not many. Being a small company, the teams are usually really small (sometimes just 2-3 people). This can be good if you like your team or bad if you struggle to get along. I only had one team that I struggled to work with, so for a couple of months, it wasn't the best experience; however, I was able to work with my supervisor to get placed with a different team and it was awesome after that. In a small company like this, you just have to be proactive about your career and clear with your co-workers about where you want to go. That's not really a bad thing, just something you should be aware of when joining a small company. Salaries could be higher, but I'm pretty sure that's the case with almost every company everywhere these days. Who doesn't want to get paid more?
